3rd-grader, Alice McCoy and her mother, Lis McCoy, first experienced virtual learning during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. After learning online through a brick-and-mortar school, Alice and her parents decided to transition to a school with more experience in cyber education. Their search brought them to PA Distance Learning Charter School in the fall of 2020.
A significant misconception that often attaches itself to cyber schools is that students have no social interaction with their classmates or teachers. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth at PA Distance.
The PA Distance Fine Arts department, consisting of our Art and Music teachers, put together exciting activities to celebrate March’s Youth Arts Month. From virtual art museum tours to a staff-wide event showcasing in-class work to gathering student submissions for virtual showcases and concerts, the Fine Arts Department is highlighting the importance of an arts education with help from the new STEAM Hub.
