PA Distance Learning Charter School graduates from the Class of 2023 will proudly receive their diplomas in Harrisburg on June 10. The ceremony invites friends, family, peers, and staff to celebrate the achievements of each individual student.

Prior to the ceremony, soon-to-be graduates—Amirah, Casey, Madison, Alexandrea, Rachel, and Nicholas—reminisced about their time at PA Distance and expressed their goals for the future.

“What I remember most is how I went from possibly having to restart high school to finally being able to graduate,” Nicholas shared.

Other favorite memories included Hershey Park trips, the Dungeons and Dragons Club, and the Crime Investigation Presentation held in the STEAM Hub this past April.

Graduating senior, Madison

When asked what he enjoyed most about online learning versus attending a typical brick-and-mortar school Casey stated, “I loved my schedule at PA Distance more than an in-person school schedule. It was similar to college where the classes are spread out over the week. You could have English 1 on Mondays and Thursdays while in brick-in-mortar school, you have all your classes throughout nine periods every day.”

Each individual also explained how they valued effective communication strategies between students and staff. “I enjoyed the flexibility and being able to get in contact with my teachers at mostly any time with quick responses,” Amirah said.

Plans for the future

PA Distance students are excited and ambitious about their plans after graduation:

Amirah: “My plans are to go to Lincoln University and become a teacher.”

Casey: “My future plans are to finish my schooling at IUP and get a degree majoring in history and minoring in music. I want to get a job working at a museum like the Smithsonian, and be a part of a singing group on the side.”

*Casey also was awarded the 2023 Indiana County Fire Chief’s Scholarship

Madison: “While I'm not completely certain about my future, I would like to produce web shows for YouTube, TikTok, etc (and maybe start an eBay or an Etsy store).”

Alexandrea: “I am going to be attending Widener University in the fall and majoring in biology.”

Rachel: “My plans are to attend Community College of Philadelphia and study nursing.”

Nicholas: “I aim to start my own landscaping company, the profit of which will be used for my college funding so I can get my dream job as a paleontologist.”

We are so proud of each graduating student and are looking forward to a great weekend in Harrisburg!
