Mr. Peter Mysels teaches high school U.S. Government and the History of the Holocaust at PA Distance Learning, focusing on how these subjects and the lessons learned will guide his students to be active and successful individuals in the world around them. His journey began at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, majoring in secondary social studies education, where he knew that teaching was his true calling in life.

Future Teachers of America Day, celebrated annually on November 20, was made to celebrate just how great teachers are. It’s sponsored by The Future Teachers of America, an organization that helps future educators prepare for the classroom and become a part of a professional community.

Today our staff is spending an entire day devoted to professional development, and there’s a common thread throughout this year’s “Ed Camp.”

Being a school in today’s ever-changing world means we have to adapt. We believe it is education’s responsibility to adapt as the world changes, so we can best prepare students to thrive.

There’s one thing, however, that must remain consistent within our education: empathy.
