For the 2021-2022 school year, PA Distance has adopted new curriculum materials for K-5 and 6-12 English Language Arts (ELA) and 7th and 8th grade Math. Curriculum & Instruction Coordinator, Mrs. Tanya Contos, worked with PA Distance teachers and administration to research, test, and implement these exciting new curriculum programs.

Students Enjoy Being Creative in Adventure Academy Art Camp
This summer, PA Distance offered 12 fun and educational virtual summer camps for students in grades K-12. PA Distance art teacher, Mrs. Julie Lawrence, extended her virtual camp and allowed students to enjoy the hands-on guided activities for longer throughout the summer.

5th-Grade Teacher, Chelsea Hartford, Conveys Her Love for Science & Social Studies
PA Distance newcomer, Chelsea Hartford, came all the way to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from Chicago, Illinois. She earned her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is certified in Illinois (grades 1-6) and Pennsylvania (grades K-4, 5-6).

Students Issued a Variety of Technology & Educational Equipment
When they enroll at PA Distance, students are issued Chromebook laptops to attend their live classes, interact with their teachers, classmates, school counselors, and attend after-school clubs, virtual field trips and complete their asynchronous assignments each week. This year, PA Distance is issuing a few different pieces of equipment to enhance our student’s learning.
