Fawnia joined the PA Distance family when she was in 1st-grade because it was easier to keep up with her school work as she traveled to doctor’s appointments, surgeries, and other scheduling concerns that relate to her chronic health condition. Unaware at the time that there was a better option, Fawnia’s mother was referred to PA Distance from a friend and enrolled her daughter as a student.

Second grade English-Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Crystal Naugle, has 12 years of teaching experience within a cyber school throughout her career. After graduating from Geneva College with a B.S. in Education and teaching certifications in Elementary (K-6), Special Education (N-12), and Reading Specialist (K-12), she began teaching at another cyber charter school as an elementary teacher. She also later pursued an M.Ed. in Reading from Slippery Rock University.

High School English teacher, Mr. Matthew Dayka, Enjoys Reading & Writing Just as Much as He Loves Teaching It

Mr. Matthew Dayka grew up reading books from his family library and often discussed them at the dinner table each night. His grandmother’s love for books trickled down to the generations thereafter and the whole Dayka family followed suit. He pursued his love for English and earned a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the California University of Pennsylvania.
