William Barnhart, from Weedville, PA, enrolled at PA Distance when he was in 8th grade. He turned 17 on graduation day, this past Saturday, and graduated an entire year early alongside the PA Distance class of 2020 — as their Valedictorian.

PA Distance seniors are making history this year with the first-ever virtual graduation ceremony. Typically an in-person event held in Harrisburg, PA each year, the PA Distance 2020 high school graduation ceremony will now be held online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Kindergarteners “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” to their Virtual Graduation Celebration
On Friday, May 29, 2020, PA Distance will be hosting a virtual graduation for 38 of our littlest students. The kindergarten class celebration will occur online and streamed live to students, parents, and elementary school. The theme, “All I Learned in Kindergarten”, is based on the movie The Wizard of Oz and highlights one of the concepts that PA Distance Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Marinzel, has taught throughout the year, “The dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.”

Health & Wellness Teacher, Mr. Kevin Hughes, Encourages Exercise for the Body & Mind
Mr. Kevin Hughes is one of the five Health and Wellness teachers at PA Distance. Growing up, he always had an interest in fitness and working out, so transitioning into a career as a health and wellness teacher made all the sense in the world.
