The Yearbook Club Commemorates Each School Year with a Beautiful Keepsake

For the 5th year in a row, PA Distance is offering hardcover yearbooks - free of charge - for those who want something physical to commemorate the 2020-2021 school year. Each year, the yearbook is formatted, designed, and organized by the PA Distance student-run Yearbook Club. The club, sponsored by Mrs. Katie Heiles and Mr. Jeff Korber, is held virtually every other Tuesday immediately following the end of the school day. Even though Mrs. Heiles and Mr. Korber assist and guide the Yearbook Club students in the process, the book and its contents are entirely produced by the students.

Senior, Fawnia Brown, Plans to Grow her Business Post-Graduation

Fawnia joined the PA Distance family when she was in 1st-grade because it was easier to keep up with her school work as she traveled to doctor’s appointments, surgeries, and other scheduling concerns that relate to her chronic health condition. Unaware at the time that there was a better option, Fawnia’s mother was referred to PA Distance from a friend and enrolled her daughter as a student.

Second grade English-Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies teacher, Mrs. Crystal Naugle, has 12 years of teaching experience within a cyber school throughout her career. After graduating from Geneva College with a B.S. in Education and teaching certifications in Elementary (K-6), Special Education (N-12), and Reading Specialist (K-12), she began teaching at another cyber charter school as an elementary teacher. She also later pursued an M.Ed. in Reading from Slippery Rock University.

His grandmother’s love for books trickled down to the generations thereafter and the whole Dayka family followed suit.
