PA Distance Learning Charter School has teamed up with two state community colleges to create an amazing opportunity for students. With the help of Luzerne County Community College and Lackawanna College, high schoolers are able to earn credits through the Dual Credit and Dual Enrollment programs.

Luzerne County Community College is a public community college in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania. Its mission is to prioritize support and access to an inclusive, equitable learning environment that fosters academic and personal success and strengthens communities in the Northeast Pennsylvania region.

Dual Credit Vs. Dual Enrollment

What is Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment? Dual Credit provides qualifying 11th and 12th-grade students the opportunity to complete college-level courses that align with their selected Career Pathway. Students who complete a Dual Credit course earn both high school and college credit.

Dual Enrollment provides those in grades 11 and 12 the opportunity to complete college-level courses. Students who complete a Dual Enrollment course earn college credit.

Courses that PA Distance students have taken or are currently taking include:

  • Macroeconomics
  • Interpersonal Communications
  • Personal Finance
  • Business Ethics PSY Drugs and Behavior

Students are permitted to register for both Dual Credit and Dual Enrollment if appropriate. Keep in mind that participants must still complete core content-level courses through PA Distance, and those who successfully complete a Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment course are eligible to earn one artifact toward Act 158 Graduation Requirements.
