PA Distance Confessions: Part 3

Bear with me on this metaphor: In order to be alive, a human needs oxygen. 

But most people don’t make it their life goal to have oxygen – we just know it will be there.  Instead, humans make it their goal to have friends, a family, a home, a job, and a purpose.  These are the things we stay alive for.

The PA Distance Learning enrollment team knows, like a human knows oxygen, that the students will be there.  It’s not about numbers; it’s about the relationships.

"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle."  

If only we could remember these words prior to judging ourselves and our peers. Unfortunately, the statistics on bullying keep growing among children. 

As a teenager, I experienced repetitive social bullying. Before my eyes, I watched as a group of  my "friends" started vicious rumors about me which eventually led to feelings of helplessness and fear.  They were intentionally leaving me out of activities and get togethers and even finding ways outside of school to tarnish my social reputation.

PA Distance Confessions: Part I

Once upon a time, I lost my vision.  I lost my memory.  I almost lost my courage, too.  

In a car crash I cannot remember, I suffered a traumatic brain injury with bleeding.  Since then, my vision and memory have mostly recovered, but my courage is greater than it has ever been.

This brings me to my confession: the families fighting an uphill battle are my favorite families to enroll.  I know what it’s like to fight an uphill battle and I know it’s better fighting it alongside others.

Virtual French and Spanish Camps for Kids

Ms. Berger, the World Language teacher, will be offering virtual French and Spanish summer camps for elementary students during the week of July 5. Spanish for grades K-2 will meet daily from 9:30-10:30 and grades 3-5 will meet from 1-2PM. French for grades K-2 will meet from 11-12PM and grades 3-5 will meet from 2:30-3:30.
