PA Distance Teachers Share the Love This February

Every child deserves to feel special and loved. That’s what Ms. Jessica Sapp thought when she had the idea to organize a Valentine’s Day project at the start of her teaching career.

Ms. Sapp was initially inspired when she recalled how, in high school, a few of her teachers put notes on every locker that said, “You are Loved.” It was such a subtle yet meaningful gesture that she continues to remember each February.

“It meant so much to me, which is why I gave my classes valentines during my first year of student teaching and have continued the tradition ever since,” she explained.

Her special tradition started with 20 students and grew significantly when she came to PA Distance Learning Charter School, where other teachers expressed their desire to support the cause.

This year, K-8 grade-level teams and interventionists gathered to write letters to the students as well as create fun, foldable paper valentines. They utilized the STEAM Hub to organize all the materials and ensure each piece of mail reaches the correct address.

Each grade level will receive a colorful and unique valentine, designed by PA Distance teachers and staff in the hope of making someone smile. Different department members enjoyed adding their own personal touches to the cards.

Thank you to the PA Distance staff members who helped continue this joyful celebration and to our amazing students who deserve to feel special each and every day. Those who receive a valentine are invited to share it on Instagram or Facebook and tag us at @padistancelearning so we can spread the love this holiday!
