Seventh-grader Chasity D. has been enrolled at PA Distance Learning Charter School since the beginning of this year. She follows in the footsteps of her stepmom, Mrs. Danielle Herr, a PA Distance graduate from the class of 2008.
Chasity discovered that she benefits most from a virtual classroom setting and values her ability to choose the type of educational environment best suited for her needs. When she decided to explore other options apart from public school, it was Mrs. Herr who suggested PA Distance.
“I remember my teachers were so friendly and always willing to provide extra help,” said Mrs. Herr.
“If I needed one-on-one time for assistance with my IEP classes, [my teachers] were there to work with me; I appreciate how respectful they were.”
Engagement events were one of Mrs. Herr’s favorite parts of the school. She recalls the excitement of meeting her teachers and classmates in person. Now that another PA Distance student is in the family, she is thrilled to continue attending trips throughout the year.

Mrs. Herr highly recommends considering PA Distance as an option for students struggling to excel at their current public school.
“It’s worth looking into an alternative that would be a better match for your child, especially if they are facing bullying or anxiety.”
She also noted, “I’ve seen a significant change in Chasity’s grades. She’s doing well and enjoying all of her classes, but art is her favorite. It’s so great to see.”
Chasity is eager to engage with her teachers, meet new friends, and make lasting memories as summer break quickly approaches.
